It consists of a new elementary school (grades K-6) in Dallas, and a junior-senior high school (grades 7-12) in Melcher. Knoxville is just 15 miles away, and Indianola (pop. 10,843) is just 25 miles away. Des Moines, is only 45 minutes away from Melcher-Dallas and there is a new four-lane highway that opened in 2003.  The community of Melcher-Dallas has several businesses and a great deal of PRIDE. We have found our test scores rising at a time many schools find themselves falling behind. With a good staff comprised of long-term teachers and strong new staff, we are pleased at the direction our district is moving. Come and visit our district. We feel it is a great place to educate your children.
